The Brecon & Radnorshire Liberal Democrats have a proud history across the two historic counties it represents. Richard Livsey, after a famous by-election victory, represented Brecon & Radnorshire in Parliament from 1987-1992 and 1997-2001. Following his retirement, Roger Williams represented this area from 2001-2015.
Jane Dodds repeated Richard Livsey's success in 2019 when she reclaimed the seat in a sensational by-election win which sent ripples across the UK and cost Boris Johnson his majority at the time. Sadly Jane did not retain the seat in the 2019 General Election, but she has continued to campaign across the constituency and is committed to fighting for a better deal for our communities.
When the National Assembly for Wales was formed in 1999 Kirsty Williams was elected to represent Brecon & Radnorshire, a seat she retained until standing down in 2021. The Lib Dems were unable to retain the seat and are now represented by Jane Dodds who won a seat representing the entire Mid and West Wales Region.
The Brecon and Radnorshire Liberal Democrats currently have 11 elected County Councillors, representing Bwlch, Crickhowell, Felinfach, Glasbury, Hay-on-Wye, Llandrindod South, Llandrindod North, Llanelwedd, Llangattock, Rhayader and Talgarth.
