In today’s Powys County Council elections the Welsh Liberal Democrats won ten seats in Brecon and Radnorshire with the Conservatives winning just five.
All seven sitting Welsh Liberal Democrat Councillors were returned, with gains also made by former MP Roger Williams in Felinfach, Jackie Charlton in Llangattock, and Pete Roberts in Llandrindod South.
James Gibson-Watt, leader of the Liberal Democrats on Powys County Council, said:
“It is clear that here in Brecon and Radnorshire people are backing the Liberal Democrats to beat the Tories. We have beaten them in the local elections in Brecon & Radnorshire and now we will take the fight to them in the general election.”
“With the Tories focusing on Montgomeryshire, people in Brecon & Radnorshire know they can rely on our strong group of high quality Councillors to fight to protect vital services.”
