Policing Bill condemned by member of Police and Crime Commissioners Panel

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill was passed by Conservative MPs this week despite warnings from civil liberties groups that it is an “all-out assault” on the right to demonstrate.
I will always stand up for the right to protest.
The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill was passed by Conservative MPs this week despite warnings from civil liberties groups that it is an “all-out assault” on the right to demonstrate.
I will always stand up for the right to protest.
Peaceful protest can lead to huge national changes, such as votes for women, or to important local changes such as the campaign to save Bronllys Hospital, of which I was a part.
Many Brecon and Radnorshire residents will have travelled to London for the Countryside Alliance’s Liberty and Livelihood march back in 2002, or for the more recent People’s Vote marches.
Whether or not we agree with the cause, the right to demonstrate to show support for our views is a fundamental human right, crucial to democracy.
