MP opens opportunity to trade with Taiwan

At a recent meeting with the Representative of Taiwan in Britain, Roger Williams MP invited him to the constituency and in particular the Royal Welsh Show, where he will have the opportunity to meet food producers from right across Wales who may be interested in exporting to Taiwan. Taiwan is a very highly developed country with an impressive history of technological manufacturing.

Commenting, Roger Williams MP said:

“Dr. Liu Chih-Kung said that he would like to meet other small companies that would be interested in trade with Taiwan, in particular small niche companies doing high quality work of which there are a number in the constituency.

“In the days following my meeting with the Representative of Taiwan I met the Managing Director of Dunbia at a conference I was chairing. Dunbia is a large lamb processor in Wales, and the Managing Director said he would be interested in meeting with Dr Chih-Kung with a view to exporting lamb to Taiwan. I told him that I would arrange a visit to Dunbia’s plant in Llanybydder and also invite Dr. Liu Chih-Kunt to the Royal Welsh Show, which could facilitate the development of that trade. This is very good news for lamb producers in Wales, because the UK produces 40% more lamb than is consumed in this country. So we desperately need these export opportunities.”
